Here we are again in that seasonal shift time when the nights are getting longer and darker, the mornings and evenings are chilly and damp but the days are often warm, sunny and just awesome! It’s a time when nature sheds the previous seasons and takes time to rest and refresh, ready to burst forth again in the spring.
I don’t know about you, but the change in seasons always triggers a bit of introspection and reflections in me, I guess it is my way to rest and refresh. In the past, I would tend to lean towards being critical of myself and what I hadn’t achieved, my anxiety and depression could start to take hold and I could easily self-sabotage to an Olympic standard! However, over the last few years, I’ve noticed that I focus more on what I have achieved and what I have, and how each day I’m getting closer to my dreams and goals. This is an important shift in me, as we really are the masters of our own destiny, we have the power to make it an Awesome Autumn, or an awful one just by the way we think and approach it. I’m choosing to make it an awesome season as I know that I can and I will!
So, how am I going to do this I hear you ask! It’s quite simple really and it’s all about mindset. I start each day with appreciation for the good things I have in my life and that I can look forward to, and I end my day by giving thanks for at least three things that have happened that day, or that I am grateful that I have in my life. Bookending my days like this has helped me to appreciate how abundant my life is and how rich I am – and not in a financial sense. This, together with a more structured approach to time management, means I get more done in less time, so I can get outside each day and soak up the sun and the glorious colours that appear in the autumn. This nourishes my mind, body and spirit and adds another thing to be grateful for to my list!
If you want to create an Awesome Autumn, start your day with appreciation and end it with thankfulness, it really does make a difference to your mindset and you soon start to notice and value all that you have. It also helps you to focus on your goals and dreams and to notice the small steps you are taking to achieve them.
By the way, if you are on the other side of the world, you can rejoice in the longer days and the fresh new leaves and plants appearing! Make it a Spectacular Spring, not a sparkless one.
More on mindset coming soon, in the meantime, head over to the Fabnewlous Facebook group and let me know what the changing seasons mean to you!
