So I’m sitting here with a head full of things to do, a body that is rapidly becoming chair-shaped and a feeling of fed-upness (is that a word? It is now!).  As it’s pouring with rain my usual quick fix of going for a walk is off the cards as getting cold and drenched is not my idea of relaxing, so what is a girl to do to get back on track physically and mentally?  She follows my five-minute fixes to reboot her mind, refresh her intentions and recharge her motivation, that’s what!

If I can’t perambulate (that’s just a fancy word for walk), my next choice is to stretch and elongate my body.  Nothing complicated, I just stretch and move my body in a way that feels comfortable. Five minutes later and I feel looser, limber and less lethargic!  When you do this, make a note of any tight or stiff areas so you can spend longer on those!

Next on my list is to meditate, I set a timer for five minutes and sit quietly and focus on my breathing.  It’s as refreshing as a walk in the rain (see above, not doing that!!) and even if you are a complete beginner to meditation, it’s amazing how quickly you get into the flow of it.  I now meditate for 15 minutes each morning and often in the afternoon as well as I find it really helps my mood and my sense of wellbeing.

Next up is to hydrate.  Often my lethargy or lack of focus is because I’m dehydrated so a large glass of fresh water really replenishes my cells and gets me going again!  Have a large bottle by your side and have a few large gulps every hour to make sure your water levels are topped up.

If I need a longer break – and sometimes I do – I create, I find that when I fully focus on something creative it becomes meditative and really refreshes me.   Whether you knit, crochet, draw, do a jigsaw or just do some colouring-in doesn’t matter, it’s the focus and concentration that helps as it means your ‘working’ mind can take a break.

Those are my five quick fixes to reboot, refresh and recharge, if you want my downloadable guide which goes into more detail of why these work, click here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tiLAOJtnalMxVaye5Y7X3WLLOJm00vqq/view?usp=sharing and let me know how you find it!
